The Parenting Collection of Oceanside Public Library was developed in acknowledgement of the idea that materials to meet parents' needs should be developed and organized as a separate initiative. In the Civic Center Library, the Parenting Collection is shelved in the back corner, to the far left as you enter the Children's Room from either aisle.
In this collection, Oceanside Public Library offers books and videos on such topics as

- breastfeeding
- potty training
- single parenting
- child development
- raising teenagers
- schools and curriculum
- medical and mental health issues
- nutrition
- parties and games for children
The Parenting Collection also contains informational brochures and bibliographies on parenting and child development topics, as well as magazines such as Parents, Parenting, American Baby, Parenting's Baby Talk, Home Education and Mothering. School report cards for Oceanside schools are available at the Children's Reference Desk of both the Civic Center and Mission Branch Libraries.
